- Boundary
- Requires prior cooling; internal condensation with poor temperature control worsens decay — not a substitute for refrigeration

- Transit days gained, shrivel, bract, decay after rewarming; handling cost and waste

- Firmness or color retention modestly limits a short-to-medium hold on some cultivars; wound ethylene relevant
- Boundary
- Non-climacteric fruit: low endogenous ethylene, limited postharvest ripening — effect is narrower and cultivar-sensitive
